Marc Jacobs Co-opts Olafur Eliasson for Fall 2013

Eliasson Jacobs

Olafur Eliasson, man of round hanging things, made a commission for the Tate Modern in 2003 (was it really 2003??) titled The Weather Project that filled the Tate’s turbine hall with a large, glowing yellow orb. London residents who rarely see the sun cherished the warm atmosphere.

Last night, Marc Jacobs closed NY Fashion Week in an arena lit by a large, glowing yellow orb. Models wearing sequins and fur walked in a circle under the golden glow. And what Olafur Eliasson and the Tate once called an artwork became a decorative prop for a fashion show.

Fashion uses art, people.
